Looking for the best jacket to wear when riding your Can-Am Spyder? Let me share some helpful advice before you make a purchase and save you some time and money. Buying a jacket of some sort is a must for most when it comes to riding in those cooler temperatures.

A few things to note here. First I’m no expert on Spyder gear, just sharing my personal experiences and thoughts. Second I am an Amazon associate so if you find this information useful and want to help out, know that I make a very small commission from anything you buy on Amazon if you click through one of my links. There’s no extra cost to you.

Okay with that out of they way lets dig right in. Yes I’m a beginner and didn’t know what I was doing and bought 3 different jackets before finding the right one for me.

Things to keep in mind when looking for the best jacket to wear when riding your Can-Am Spyder

  • Color
  • Size
  • Insulation
  • Padding
  • Style

Does color really matter?

Only if you want to stand out and be seen by other drivers =). While black is probably the most bought jacket color it’s also one of the hardest to be seen in by other drivers on the road. Florescent green on the other hand stands out pretty well. Might not be the best looking but it’ll definitely help get you noticed by other drivers.

For me I went with an off white / gray color that didn’t scream “HEY LOOK AT ME” but stands out more than black which is why my wife chose. She cares more about style =) . Keep in mine that the lighter colors might show more dirt than other colors.

Size can make a big difference in comfort

Obviously you want to get a jacket that fits and feels good, however if you get one that is to big you may regret it doing 50+ miles an hour down the road. All of a sudden your jacket becomes a parachute and you feel like your about to come off your Spyder. Not a fun feeling. Another thing I found out by trial and error is that with a longer jacket pooched out around my stomach when I sat down on my Spyder. Not only did it look and feel awkward, I was worried about scratching my Spyder.

Want to stay warm then make sure your Jacket comes with a removeable liner

While my first jacket felt and looked great one thing I didn’t think of was a liner. Our first few rides were in cooler temps and the wind went right through my jacket. Froze my butt off while my wife was cozy and warm. Didn’t take me long to figure out why. Her coat had a removable micro-mesh inner lining.

Needless to say I went back on Amazon and started searching for another jacket and one that had removable inner lining. What a world of difference! Riding my Spyder now is so much more comfortable. I can’t stress this enough… Make sure your jacket comes with a removable inner liner.

Padding for Safety and Style for that personal touch

Padding is a no brainer and most motorcycle jackets will come with removable padding. The padding should include CE armored shoulders, back, & elbows for the best protection. Anything extra is that much better. For those that don’t know it’s removable to allow the jacket to be washed without damaging the padding.

As for style well there are plenty of different colors and styles to choose from on Amazon just try to keep the above tips in mine when shopping for that perfect look. My wife went with a jacket that matched her helmet and gloves and I’ll admit she looks pretty hot in her Spyder gear.

Finial thoughts about the best jacket to wear when riding your Can-Am Spyder

Hope you found this a little helpful even if you don’t like the sets I picked out. While it’s always nice to be able to try something one before you buy it sometimes you don’t have that option. I bought 3 jackets and 2 helmets before finding what worked for me. One of the best parts about ordering from Amazon it you can return most items with out any issue. Just be sure to check the return policy on each item before making a purchase.

What color / style are you going for? Let me know in the comments below and if you have any other questions that I might be able to help answer. Ride on and enjoy #spyderriders
